The Head Chef Behind Singapore’s Favourite Cantonese Restaurant

Leading the kitchen at Man Fu Yuan is Head Chef Cheong Kai Choon, who has been with the restaurant since its opening in 1995.

Over more than three decades, Chef Cheong has become an integral part of Man Fu Yuan's culinary story. His deep knowledge of Cantonese cuisine and enduring respect for its traditions guide a kitchen where every dish is prepared with care and precision.

His colleagues affectionately call him "Gou Lou", Cantonese for "tall guy", a nickname inspired by his height. It speaks, too, to the familiarity and fondness built over a lifetime alongside the Man Fu Yuan team.
